Tuscola County moves $3.23 million in road and bridge millage money to the Road Commission

Tuscola County Board of Commissioners · October 1, 2026 · Minutes status: Approved (as published)

What happened: Commissioners approved two transfers to the Road Commission Fund: $1,917,620.80 from the Voted Primary Road Fund (Voucher Road 2026-1), and $1,308,361.21 from the Voted Local Bridge Millage Fund (Voucher Bridge 2026-1). Both motions carried.

Why it matters: This is voter-approved millage money moving from its holding funds into the fund the Road Commission actually spends from. It does not, by itself, name a specific road project — the minutes record the transfers, not a project list.

The same meeting also approved a $64,334.30 FY27 County Veteran Services Fund Grant Agreement, a $1,916,791.42 Michigan Indigent Defense Counsel grant contract for Oct 1, 2026–Sept 30, 2027 (state share $1,663,083.13, local share $253,708.29), and a $19,505.84 budget adjustment moving money from Prosecutor Fund 229 to Victim Services Grant Fund 236 to cover a shortfall, described in the minutes as the third year of a shortfall in that fund.

What happens next: Not stated in the minutes for these transfers. The minutes note a Road Commission rumble-strip policy was being developed for the Road Commission Board to review.
